Questions & answers
Everything grown-ups (and builders) usually ask.
Playing
What is Bloppitopia?
Your own world of islands, grown by your builds. A little otter arrives by boat, your first build finishes its home, and every build after that adds something: Home Island becomes a village, and five islands rise from the mist, one for each way to play. Bloppit and your otter live there, and a friend lives on every island: Tiny, Nora, Pippa, Swoop and Lemmie. Progress is saved, so the world is still there next time.
Who is Bloppit for?
Bloppit is made for enthusiastic brick builders of any age, and grown-ups are very welcome, especially in Blitz. Younger builders can start on the first levels of Frog Trail or pick a small puzzle in Quick Build.
Does it cost anything?
No. Bloppit is free to play, with no ads and nothing to buy.
Do I need an account?
No. There’s no sign-up and no email. Each player just picks a first name or nickname on the device, and their scores and progress are kept there.
What can I play it on?
Any phone, tablet or computer with a web browser: just go to bloppit.com/build. Bloppit for iPhone and iPad is on its way to the App Store.
Does it work offline?
Building, the Trails and racing Swoop work without the internet once the page has loaded (and always in the app). Playing with friends, challenges and the Weekly Bloppit need a connection.
What’s the difference between Frog Trail and Brain Trail?
Each trail has its own 14 levels, from tiny to tricky, then a boss level. On Brain Trail, some booklet pages are locked behind a math puzzle, and the puzzles get harder as the levels go up. How hard they start depends on the age you enter for the player.
How does Bloppit Blitz work?
Players take turns placing 1, 2 or 3 bricks, then tap Done. Your clock only runs on your turn, everyone places the same number of bricks, and every brick in the wrong spot adds 1 second. Stuck? A hint shows where this step’s bricks go, for 5 extra seconds. Shortest total time wins. You can race Swoop the Longtail at three speeds, or a friend.
Can I use my own photos?
Yes. Add a photo in Quick Build and Bloppit turns it into a brick puzzle with its own booklet. A clear picture of one thing on a plain background works best. Try the flat Picture style if you want it to look more like the photo.
Friends and safety
How do I play with friends?
One player makes a room and gets a short code. Friends type the code in (under Join a game) or open the share link. A room holds up to 4 players. Challenges work the same way, except friends can race your time whenever they like.
Is it safe for younger players?
- There’s no way to search for or message strangers: you can only join a game with its code.
- There is no chat and no voice anywhere in Bloppit. In a room, players only place bricks; nothing typed or spoken passes between them.
- In the iPhone and iPad app, any link out of the app asks a grown-up question first.
- No ads, no accounts, no tracking.
What happens to my photos?
Photos and builds stay on your device. The only time a photo leaves it is when you share that puzzle in a room or challenge, so your friends can play it. Rooms are deleted 3 days after they’re last used, and challenges 30 days after the last player. Full details are in the privacy policy.
What does the Weekly Bloppit send?
That you finished, and whether it was a clean build (no misses, no hints). The build's time and number of misses are sent only to check it's a real finish; they aren't kept. No name, no rank: Bloppit keeps two counts per week so it can tell you how many builders finished clean, and deletes them after 8 weeks. The top-100 board is off unless a grown-up switches it on.
